Itinerary

  • 8:30 Departure from Almaty 10:00 Arrival of guests.
  • 10:15-10:45 Acquaintance with the Kazakh yurt. (the ethnographer of the center leads the guests into the traditional  house of nomads and gives information  about each item in the yurt, the features of manufacturing and ornament.)
  • 10:50-11:20 Acquaintance with weapons and armor of nomads from different historical eras. (Ethnocentre Nomad is engaged in the scientific reconstruction of armor from different historical eras, ranging from Saka period to the period of the Kazakh Khanate.)
  • 11:20-12:50 Interactive (in real time, everyone has the opportunity to feel him/herself the warrior or horseman of Desht-i-Kipchak, talk to a guide/historian/ethnographer. 
  • Interactive:
    -Horse riding (Guests ride horses. Center staff teach people how to control a horse.)
    -Archery. (Guests practice archery with instructors.)
    -Wearing armor
  • 13:00-14:00 Lunch (Beshbarmak, 2 types of salad, 2 types of cold appetizers, tea, bauyrsaks) 
  • 14:00-14:35 Master class: bauyrsaks cooking with further tasting. (Guests are provided with necessary tools, the cook shows how to roll the dough and fry bauyrsaks. When the bauyrsaks are ready, guests taste them.)
  • 14:40-15:10 Culinary masterclass 2: Talkan, Zhent Zhasau. (The demonstration consists of several stages. Guests see how millet is made into cereal and at the end they make a national type of dessert - gent.)
  • 15:20-16:00 Master class of national crafts: Shi toku, keel. (Master shebers showhow to make yurt parts telling what they are needed for. Then guests can try to make it themselves.)
  • 16:30 – 18:00 free time
  • 18:30 – departure to Almaty

Nomad Ethnic Center

Ethnocenter "NOMAD" is a unique historical and ethnographic complex, located in the open air in the foothills of Ushkonyr, Almaty region - this is an immersion in traditional nomadic culture, living history, which guests can not only see, but also actively participate.
Its creation is based on centuries-old traditions, the culture and life of the nomadic tribes of the Great Steppe - the Saks, Usuns, Kangyu, Turks, Kazakhs and many others. Here everyone can learn how to weave pile and lint-free carpets, felt, and participate in  traditional Kazakh dishes  cooking with their subsequent tasting
